she's looking pretty cute !

hiii

I have some exciting things to share! But first I want to talk a little about how the project has been progressing since the last devlog.

While programming the elements I could program in the timeframe that I have before the submission of the assignment, I was also researching into UI and UX design and the aspects of both design roles. Since I was essientially being both the UI and UX designer I was thinking about both aspects of the feel and the look of the overal UI for the game.

Learning about Unity's functions in terms of the UI was extremely helpful in this regard! I learned how to change sprites on buttons depending on the state it was in. I also learnt about layout groups which was a life saver in making sure elements were alligned symmetrically and spaced evenly.

The overall look so far (UI design) is in place and is exactly as I was invisioning it to look. The next thing on the to do list is to try to get some nice animations and fluid motion into the scene.  This would be the UX part of the design, as I want to have the interactions with the buttons and UI on screen to feel nice and aesthetically pleasing. So far, I have the buttons look as if they are pressed down and with the remaining time I have I want to animate little elements on the main illlustration as well as when hovering over the UI buttons!

AINT IT CUUUTE !!! <3 <3

As this is the first prototype, I've only included one of the characters and rooms that the game will feature. The character featured here is Pup and they are a labrador.

There's also buttons added with some metaphor icons! Through research I learnt that metaphor icons are the better option for any UI layout.  With the game's first prototype nearing completion you'll be able to see exactly what the buttons showcase!

That's pretty much it for now. Will upload another devlog closer to the end of the week with the first prototype up and available to play!

See you then!
